Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to another psionics seminar here at the social club. As usual, we’ll be discussing real-world psionics.

I’ll be going a bit more slowly this week, simply because I haven’t already typed out the basics of my lecture this time…

Our topic for the evening is field maintenance and hygiene.

These skills are some of the rudiments of psionics.

Rudiments tend to be overlooked only by two groups of people: over-enthusiastic novices who are perhaps a bit too eager to get to the “cool stuff” and fluffing idiots who believe that rudiments are beneath them.

Novices outgrow their situation, and the smart ones go back and learn the bits they didn’t bother with in their initial rush.

Sadly, there’s no cure for stupid.

As I’m sure you all know, there seems to be some kind of “stuff field” that seems to exist around and through the “normal” body.

You’ll hear disagreements as to what the field in question is made of, how many layers it has, what it does, why it’s there, and so on.

For the moment, we’re going to assume it exists as something other than a mass hallucination.

This field of stuff also tends to accumulate ickiness in it. “Debris”, for lack of a better word, and it needs to be cleaned out in the same way that you need to clean your hair and skin from time to time.

If you don’t clean your field, it gets pretty disgusting.

And, sometimes, it can be associated with physical symptoms such as prickliness all over the skin. (If cleaning the field fixes the problem, then I’m going to presume that the stuff in the field is in some way connected to the problem…)

This debris stuff seems to accumulate more quickly in (and may be caused by) situations that have a high emotional content, various illnesses, and areas that are themselves not very healthy. Spending time in so-called “sick buildings” can result more ickiness on your field.

Can being round certain people cause a build up?

It’s possible. Certainly being in large crowds can do it.

And also the “stuff” sticks to other things, also. Such as the seats on an airplane. (You’d be amazed at how much anxiety, fear, anger, annoyance, and impatience builds up in a passenger aircraft)

To do a thorough cleaning, it’s best to start off by breaking up the “debris.”

The easiest way to do this is by rattling.

That’s pretty much what it sounds like: Shake a rattle all around your body, about four inches / 10cm from your skin. Shake nice and vigorously.

Yes, this will look stupid. You may want to choose your location accordingly.

Ringing a bell (or shaking several “jingle-bells”) near or around your body can accomplish the same purpose.

What can work as a rattle? Baby rattles, musical shakers, rainsticks, spice jars with pepper corns, boxes or plastic tubs of dried rice or beans, glass seed beads in a plastic test tube….

Some people even shake their keys.

No. Some figure that the somewhat chaotic soundwaves de-pattern the relatively stable debris. But that’s only a guess at this stage, as far as I know.

Once you’ve rattled, the next step is to remove the bulk of the broken-up debris.

Again, we’re going with “easy” here. There’s more than one way to do things, but this one’ll get you started if you don’t already have a favourite.

If you have the use of at least one hand, tense the muscles of it as much as you can without making a fist.

Use the side of the hand to scrape downward along your body – front, back, and sides – to dislodge the debris.

Shake it off your hands, or run your hands under water (preferably), or ground the stuff into the floor or a bowl of salt (the coarser the better)

If you don’t have the use of a hand – or if for some reason you wish to be less conspicuous – make a construct “curry comb”. This is kind of like a flat brush with short bristles that is used to loosen dirt and stuff from a horse’s coat at the beginning of a grooming session. In this case, you’re going to use it to knock the debris loose from your field. Move it around your body in small circular motions, and feel free to scrub at any stubborn bits.

Of course, you can move the construct with your hand, too, if you have the use of your hands. Scraping is easier, for most folks, but some people prefer the curry comb approach.

bonus perk of contruct based cleaning is that you can do it literally all the time and especially when that creep from down the hall traps you in a conversation for twenty minutes

This might sound like a silly question, but I’ll ask it for everyone: How do you ‘feel’ the stubborn bits? Unless we’ll notice physical resistance?

I believe it varies from person to person, but stubborn bits are basically dense clumps. They will often feel like they are a different temperature from the surrounding field. They may feel literally “more dense” and produce a physical impediment.

Pretty much, if it feels different from the rest of the field, scrub it.

Next step is to give it a good rinse, and ground to the earth.

A nice, easy way to approach this is to “pretend” you’re having a shower or you’re standing under a waterfall.

Or, actually take a shower.
Rainsong
Either way, concentrate on the debris and will it to fall away in the water, and be washed into the ground / down the drain.

If you like to use visualization for this, imagine the debris as mud or as slime, and picture the water rinsing it away until the water runs clear.

Advantages of using an actual shower for this are two-fold: The imagery is easier to hold, and you don’t need to feel as self-conscious rattling in the bathroom with the door closed. 😀

Focusing on cleaning the “stuff” away while cleaning your body gets two jobs done at the same time, also.

If you happen to have a bathroom scale handy that’s accurate to the 100-gram level, weigh yourself before you start and after you finish. You may find that you’re 200-300 grams lighter – even when you’re still wet. Of course, differences in position when you’re standing on the scale can mess up the accuracy, and it doesn’t prove anything at all (before someone asks….), but it’s kind of cool.

A little more about grounding, seeing as I mentioned it in passing…

Grounding moves excess emotions and oomph out of your field (usually into the ground, much like electricity grounds to earth)… How it does this is open to question, and some people bring oomph in when they ground. Both conventions are valid.

Only ground into inanimate objects. Otherwise you risk injuring the being you ground into or through.

There are people who choose not to ground, for any number of reasons. As long as they keep their fields clean and healthy, this isn’t a problem.

Grounding isn’t something just for new folks, though. So, don’t get the idea that because some folks don’t need to do it, that they “grew out of it”. That’s not the case.

By the way, if you find yourself jittery before a test or before a public speaking engagement, ground into the desk or table or podium. It makes a considerable difference.

I’ve heard the term assisted grounding before, that an actual thing? And let’s say I find bits of deeply embedded gunk in my pathways, what’s ways I can tend to those?

By “assisted grounding”, you mean someone grounding someone else? Or helping them ground? Both are done.
Scelana

And by pathways, you mean meridians? For those, tap the end points and then backwash through the path against the normal current, by running your hand along it backwards. Then, run your hand along it in the regular direction several times.

In all cases, don’t push. Just get it to flow. Pushing hard can cause light-headedness and unconsciousness.

(On the other hand, if you want to knock out the person you’re “helping to ground”…..)

Ah, I have little knowledge on meridians, their locations, and their points I just know that I have pathways and that’s bout it hehe

If you have “gunk” in them, rattle through the gunk, and then gently pull or push it off, away from your body.

Ahh kk The last time I got some view with my mind’s eye there were some deeply embedded dark specks of gunk I think in my right shoulder area. Can’t really take a looksie with my mind’s eye anymore to know if they’re still there or not

Can you reach the area to feel it with the opposite hand?

Relax that hand, and slowly wave it through the area. Do the same in some other areas. Compare what it feels like.

Can these techniques be used to clean the field of another? Whether it be in person or over distance?

Yes. In person, do it much the same as to yourself. Over a distance, one of the easier ways to do it is to “imagine” the person as doll size and right in front of you. Concentrate on that “imaginary doll” representing the person’s field. Proceed with the doll as though cleaning the person directly.

A lot of people acquire “gunk” wherever they hold tension in their bodies, so don’t be surprised if many folks have clumps of debris sitting at the base of their necks in back.

Turbo: No, as long as you don’t push too hard, as mentioned.

And, if you’re into that sort of thing, a nice thorough cleaning of a person’s field can feel very much like a massage.

A little but not as much as there. Not sure if it’s random wind currents from the doorway and other rooms but it seems like palm of my hand gets cold if I hold it infront my forehead/face area

Fair enough. So give both areas a bit of extra cleaning.

You might also like to use the flat of the hand, to “smooth” the field down after you’re finished cleaning. The motion is rather like stroking a cat, but out from the body by a couple inches / 5cm.
