Constructs and Tools for Stuff Other than Grounding

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: March 3, 2018 (Saturday)

Rainsong
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Rainsong
Is there anyone around who’s interested in a seminar this evening?

Scelana
I just made it back from the store hehe

Rainsong
Excellent

Rainsong
Our topic for the evening, by request, is “Constructs and Tools for Stuff Other than Grounding”… as contrasted to the seminar on Constructs and Tools for Grounding.

Rainsong
Obviously, this topic covers a lot of ground, and we’ll barely be touching the surface

Rainsong
There are quite a few newbies around, who might or might not be paying attention to the classroom (I’m not tracking or scanning for it)… For their benefit, I’ll point out that we’ll be discussing real-world psionics, and not role-playing games. Not that we have anything againstsuch games. Many of the regular members of the community are also gamers. Are there any questions or comments, before we start?

Scelana
None on my end, though I can only imagine the amount of lectures it would take to even come anywhere near fully covering this topic hehe

Rainsong
A few times a week for a few years, at a minimum, I’d think

Scelana
That would be quite a few hehe

Rainsong
So, yea, constructs and tools you can use for stuff.

Rainsong
Let’s start with tools.

WanderingWolf
Sounds good

Rainsong
This being a psionics class, as opposed to any other style of magic, this topic really must mention radionics devices. There is a class log about the use of one of the more common types http://psc-online.org/doku.php?id=class_logs:dmils:rogers_kelly_style_radionics and a blog post about one of the simpler ones http://psc-online.org/doku.php?id=blog:cardboard_radionics

Rainsong
Therefore, this will just be a quick mention.

Rainsong
Radionics devices – also called “radionics machines” and “radionics boxes” – are ways to almost automate many psionic activities. They are especially useful for tedious and time-consuming projects, such as repelling insects from crops.

Rainsong
The devices are usually “box”-shape, and contain circuitry that looks kinda-sorta electronic, but any electrician or electrical engineer would face-palm if they saw some of the totally workable circuits in use. Some of them look like they were designed by a five-year-old who half-watched their parent re-wire an old-fashioned radio and tried to re-create the “pretty patterns” with pencil and metallic yarn.

Rainsong
Sometimes not even yarn…

Rainsong
Many radionics boxes have a “Stickpad” that is either part of the box, or wired to it.

Rainsong
This is a flat, smooth object, usually made of some kind of metal or plastic. The practitioner rubs either a thumb or two (sometimes three) fingers across it while posing a question. Either a second devices such as a dial is being used at the same time (turning the dial slowly, in this case) or the practitioner thinks through a number of possible answers. When the dial comes to the right number or the “think” comes to the right answer, the thumb/finger rubbing on the stickpad will feel different: it’ll “catch” in the rubbing (as though the surface of the stickpad had suddenly become sticky) or some other apparent change will alert the practitioner.

Rainsong
Using a stickpad is a type of dowsing.

Rainsong
Radionicists also use pendulums for the same purpose.

Rainsong
A pendulum is a good, general-purpose tool. It’s just a weight on the end of a string or chain. For outdoor use, use a heavier weight, such as a plumber’s bob.

Rainsong
In either case – stickpad or pendulum – the item is merely being used to amplify the tiny movements in your fingers, to make it easier to interpret whatever “data” you’re picking up. (They are also used in psychiatry, but that’s outside our topic tonight.)

Rainsong
Any questions or comments, so far?

Rainsong
By the way, a popular and very useful stickpad is simply the plastic lid of a coffee can.

Scelana
Would other materials such as various stones or crystals be ok to use in a pendulum for that purpose?

Rainsong
Certainly. The weights for a pendulum can be made of just about any stone or crystal you like, as long as it can be attached to a chain or string of some kind.

Rainsong
There are quite a few pretty crystal pendulums sold specifically for this purpose, even having a counterweight on the other end of the chain to make it easier to hold.

Rainsong
I have a couple dozen such.

Scelana
Cool

WanderingWolf
I kept a stone ring and paracord on me as an impromptu pendulum ages ago

Rainsong
Excellent choice

Rainsong
Chuck Comismano suggests a key on a string, because keys have a point on the end and are flat (making them easy to store)

Rainsong
A traditional pendulum for dowsing the sex of an unborn child is the woman’s wedding ring suspended on one of her own hairs.

Rainsong
Further questions and commentary so far?

Scelana
None from me hehe

WanderingWolf
I’m good on my end

WanderingWolf
Proceed

Kate Embers
good on my end too ^^ (hello btw)

Rainsong
(Hi, Kate)

Scelana
Heya Kate Embers

Rainsong
A tool I use fairly often is a “damper” to cut down on incoming empathic/telepathic signals.

Rainsong
Mine are made from hematite, and are worn against the skin or held in the hand. Other people have found that other substances work better for them (onyx and amber, mostly).

Rainsong
There are also more complicated tools for the same purpose, but a string of hematite beads worn around the neck is cheaper, easier to get, and much less conspicuous than the high-tech stuff

Kate Embers
I personally prefer amethyst because it amplifies my empathy and allows for more difficult, or more uncertain, questions

Rainsong
That would be the opposite effect.

Rainsong
Various species of quartz work very well for amplifying: amethyst, clear, milky, citrine, and so on

Rainsong
The simple way to use them is to hold them in your hands, and run the oomph/psi-stuff literally through the crystal toward the target while concentrating on … whatever you’re doing.

Rainsong
Be aware, however, that running too much oomph through a quartz crystal can cause it to cloud, change colour, or to its colour in the case of the darker ones (amethyst, smokey, etc)

Rainsong
Questions or commentary on dampers and amplifiers?

Scelana
I have none that I can think of atm

Rainsong
Next up? Cotton puffs

Rainsong
Squares cut from cotton quilt-batting, or little balls of cotton such as are sold in the cosmetics sections of grocery stores and pharmacies (not sure what they are sold for, because this does not appear to be their primary purpose), or rolls of cotton puff bandages sold in pharmacies will all work well.

Rainsong
The important part is that they are cotton and puffy

Rainsong
Work well for what, exactly?

Rainsong
Holding stuff.

Rainsong
You can run “healing energy” such as the stuff Therapeutic Touch and Quantum Touch and Reiki people do into the cotton, and the cotton will hold it until it is “released” by holding the cotton against someone else (or yourself at a later time). Basically, you’re making little healing batteries.

Rainsong
You can also put emotion-laden oomph into the little cotton puffs and pass them around, to see what people “feel” from them. It can make a good game for children on road trips…

Rainsong
Just hold the cotton between your hands and run oomph into it, while either faking an emotion or sending out “healing stuff”

Rainsong
Questions? Comments?

WanderingWolf
I usually keep schorl on me as a natural low powered battery

Scelana
Any idea how long a cotton puff can hold a charge?

Scelana
What’s a schorl?

WanderingWolf
Black tourmaline

Rainsong
WanderingWolf: Nice.

Scelana
Ahhh

Rainsong
Scelana: At least three weeks.

Scelana
Ah kk

WanderingWolf
I’m very nature based for my craft. So I find natural chargers and batteries and such

Rainsong
And you can even send it through the mail. 😀

Scelana
That gotta come in handy

Rainsong
WanderingWolf: Very nice. I use amethyst for much the same reason. It’s a beach pebble here.

Rainsong
Scelana: Yes, being able to mail it is occasionally very useful.

Rainsong
Cotton-stuffed plushies can be filled with “love” and sent to people (such as nieces and nephews), too

WanderingWolf
Nature has an abundance of medicine and energies to use, just be sure to be respectful

WanderingWolf
Plushies would be fantastic.

Rainsong
Questions or commentary before we look at one last psionic tool for the evening?

WanderingWolf
Not on my end

Scelana
Same

Rainsong
Last bit for tonight: physical loci for wards and other constructs (We’ll probably have time to dip into the construct side of the topic next week, following the scheduled topic)

Rainsong
It can be easier to keep a ward stable if it’s attached to something. And some people find it easier to make a ward if they have loci to attach it to.

Rainsong
Common choices include quartz crystals, of course. Either on their own or as parts of statues.

Rainsong
For example, I have an amethyst miniature Inukshuk (about 25cm high) that works well for this.

Rainsong
Some people use candles (be extra careful with these, if you have small children and/or pets in the house… most wards do not protect against house-fires….)

Rainsong
And, if you’re a fan of novelist Katherine Kurtz, a set of eight dice (with or without spots) – four light coloured and four dark coloured – can be made into “ward cubes” by the simple expedient of using them to hold your wards.

Rainsong
I’ve also seen people use angel statues and dreamcatchers.

Rainsong
It is common but not required to use loci in sets of four, describing the corners of the ward… often in colours corresponding to the practitioner’s tradition’s designated “Watchers”/Guardians of the four Quarters

Rainsong
Questions?

Rainsong
Comments?

WanderingWolf
I’ve used schorl in corners to make barriers

Rainsong
Tourmaline works brilliantly for that.

WanderingWolf
It’s fantastic.

Rainsong
I’ve used watermelon tourmaline for the same purpose

WanderingWolf
I need to find my moldavite necklace

Rainsong
Use a pendulum to dowse for its location? 😉

WanderingWolf
It’s in my trunk somewhere

Scelana
Last time someone told me to setup something that sounded kinda like that they had me make a 2:1 sea salt and sage mixture and put it in the 4 corners of my room and across the doorway. Wasn’t told much else other than it was a protective barrier

WanderingWolf
I rather use animal remains for my craft as well as stones. I don’t like using much else

Scelana
I have no idea if what they had me do is still in effect after all this time

Rainsong
Salt is good for containing debris and excess “stuff”. Sage is good for cleaning and purifying.

Scelana
Ahh i see

WanderingWolf
I’ve used desert sage ground in a mortor with some salt and charcoal to make black salt for that

Scelana
Was kitchen sage in my case as that’s all i had at the time

Rainsong
Whatever works.

Rainsong
Any further questions or commentary?

WanderingWolf
I’m good on my end

Rainsong
Thanks for participating.

Rainsong
Have a lovely evening (or whatever it is where you are)

WanderingWolf
You’re very welcome thank you for having this

Scelana
Thxies for the lecture

Null
Read up on last night’s lecture and wanted to add my two cents on something. The length of time an object remains charged with energy depends on a lot of variables including the structure(micro and macro), composition, and integrity of both the object and the energy involved. The more compatible the structures and compositions of the object and the energy, the more they’ll “cling” to each other, and the stronger the integrity of either the less likely decay or damage will happen. Then there are other considerations such as how much energy was put in initial vs how much has been drawn out, is it set to recharge itself or does it have to be manually refilled, has it been exposed to counter-acting energy that’s negated any of it, and so on. With enough unstanding and training some of these variables can be mitigated with technique, such as using a neutral buffer energy to add an energy that isn’t very compatible with the object, essentially gluing it into place. This can cause issues sometimes if the object and energy are truely incompatible.

Null
In the instance of the cotten puffs, I’ve found most common fabrics to be fairly neutral so they can hold most energies easily, and as long as you don’t abuse it physically the integrity is good enough to hold charges for quite a while. As such, how long cotton batting and stuffing holds energy is mostly reliant on how much was put in, whether or not it’s self-sustaining, and the integrity of the initial charge.

Null
Rainsong’s three week estimate is a very reasonable average for anyone just kinda slapping the energy in using basic techniques and not going hogwild with the amount put into it. It would only really last less time if you drew heavily off of it. If you don’t draw energy from it and just used it as a point of exposure, like the example of putting loving energy into a stuffed animal where just holding it without pulling energy out gives the desired effect, you’re looking at years of time without much effort, and it would last indefinitely with only the barest of refeshing.

Sil
Hmm

Sil
That actually clarifies some things for me 🙂

Rainsong
My three-week estimate is indeed based on just “slap-dash” basic usage. Mostly because that’s the only thing I use if for personally, and it was the only type I’ve observed and heard of other people using it. Serious working in the “tradition” I was raised in anchors such things to more solid substances
