Rainsong
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
Rainsong
Welcome to another psionics seminar here at the social club.
Rainsong
Our topic for the evening, by suggestion from Ceahhettan, is “Practical Applications of Psionics, in regular day-to-day life.”
Rainsong
Ceah noted that it’s been a while since we’ve discussed this one in a seminar. This observation is correct. And by a “while”, he and I mean “fifteen or sixteen years”.
Rainsong
Not much need for a Friendly Definition here, but the gist of our topic is “Regular stuff you can use psionics for.”
Rainsong
Obviously, you’ll find that your level of skill will have an effect on what you can do… Kind of implied by the “level of skill” thing, eh?
Rainsong
We’re leaving out things like the basic self-defence of Shielding or the like required by most telepaths and empaths to maintain whatever passes as their sanity, and the Shielding of poor helpless electronics around telekinetics….
Rainsong
Questions or comments so far?
Rare peypey
nothing yet
Turbo
Nope
Rainsong
Alrighty then…
Rainsong
Basic grounding – This is useful to calm and settle your mind before an exam or public speaking event to avoid the problems brought on by panic and stage-fright.
Rainsong
In fact, it’s taught in public-speaking and media relations courses for exactly this reason.
Rainsong
Dowsing – to find the leak in the pipe or the whereabouts of lost keys. It can also be used to identify the cell or page where a general-ledger account was misfiled in a database, if you’re good at dowsing numbers.
Turbo
Will you be going over each of those techniques or will it just be a brief description of the skill?
Rare peypey
would be interested in a description of the dowsing technique too, i’ve only ever heard of dowsing with maps
Rainsong
Hadn’t planned to, but it sounds like that might be useful?
Rainsong
Okay… backing up slightly.
Rainsong
As an example of grounding for the purpose I’d just mentioned, Lay your hands flat on the desk or podium (or wrap them around the arms of the chair. Or lay them flat against the side of the chair…. as long as your palms are in contact with an inanimate object that connects to the floor, we’re good.)
Rainsong
Imagine your field is full of water, and the excess emotions such as fear and anxiety are mud. Let the water flow out through your palms, washing the mud away into the ground.
Rainsong
Letting it flow is preferable to pushing it, as pushing can move too much and make you light-headed.
Rainsong
When the “water” runs clear, you’re done. It can be done quickly and unobtrusively, and you can do it repeatedly if needed, through the exam or during an interview or speech.
Rainsong
Questions?
Rare peypey
is the water psi in this case? or is it just a helpful visualisation?
Rainsong
It’s a helpful visualisation to guide the “stuff” in the field, that includes psi-stuff, and may also include other stuff.
Rainsong
Anything else on that one?
Turbo
Not over here
Rare peypey
nope
Rainsong
For run-of-the-mill dowsing, pendulum dowsing is convenient. A heavy plumb-bob works well for tracking underground pipes and other things where you’re walking around outside. Let it hang freely, and watch for when it starts to move… and then when it stops.
Hobbetian
I’ve used a dowsing road to answer yes and no questions
Hobbetian
and it worked
Hobbetian
but it worked in a sense, because I can externalize my own mind, no?
Rainsong
You’ll be doing quite a bit of to-ing and fro-ing. Go across the lawn or whatever, move forward a bit, and go across again, and so on… Search pattern.
Rainsong
Apparently, dowsing equipment such as rods and pendulums simply serve to amplify the signal that you have anyway. Pendulum signals like that are also used in psychiatry, to get to answers from within the mind, apart from psychic stuff.
Rainsong
For numbers, you have a couple options: If you have a list, just run a finger or other pointer down the list slowly, while asking yourself which number/item it is. Watch for movement or change of movement in the pendulum.
Rainsong
The other plan is to ask it questions: Is the number greater than 10? (yes) Is it greater than 20? (no) Is it less than 15? (yes) Is it greater than 12? (no) Is it less than 12? (no) Is it 12? (yes)
Rainsong
For desk-jobs, almost anything can be used for a pendulum, because it doesn’t need to be heavy to counteract the wind. A key on a string is ideal, for example.
Rainsong
Questions? Commentary?
B.O.X.
I have two quick ones…
Rainsong
Mmhmm?
B.O.X.
Is it called “pendling” when using a pendulum specifically, or am I making that word up?
Rainsong
It is indeed called pendling, as well as pendulum dowsing.
B.O.X.
I see. And… do you decide beforehand what movement signifies yes, and no?
Rainsong
Yes. You can either move it deliberately, and say “This movement signifies ‘yes’” for example. Or you can “ask” it to show you the movement that indicates ‘yes’
B.O.X.
Neat. Thank you.
Rainsong
You’re welcome.
Rainsong
Any other questions or comments?
Rare peypey
that answered my question
Hobbetian
what if you’re looking for an object that might be ‘interesting’
Hobbetian
but you don’t know what it is or what it might be
Hobbetian
something random
Hobbetian
what I mean is: I want to find something valuable or curious, but have no idea what might be in ‘that hill’
Rare peypey
“this movement signifies something interesting is around” would work in that case, surely?
Rainsong
Yes, but you’d have to have some idea of what constitutes “interesting”
Hobbetian
how about ‘valuable, financially’
Hobbetian
as one example
Rare peypey
a bottlecap could be valuable if you could find the right collector, but worthless otherwise
Hobbetian
right
Rainsong
Constructs – Cat-toys and amusements for small children, and the ever-popular blue psiball for easing headaches, toothaches, twisted ankles, etc. (Make it cool, blue, and soothing, and hold it against whatever is hurting)
Rainsong
And, in a similar vein: Running oomph through muscles – to ease aches from over-enthusiastic participation in sports, martial arts, bootcamp, etc – Pull stuff to your hands (from the ground or from your field) and push it through whatever is aching
Hobbetian
can you actively ask a tree or wood for healing energy
Rainsong
I suppose you could. If there are pine trees around, you could use some of the stuff they shed as excess. And, if you ground your excess stuff into the ground near their roots, they can use it.
Rainsong
Fatigue banishing – for banishing fatigue, if you need to get through another hour before closing shop without face-planting on the cash register, or to cram all night without falling asleep during the exam, or to get through that cocktail party you promised your SO you’d attend after work… Burning off intoxication can be useful, too, if you occasionally have a touch more beer than has perhaps been good for you
Rainsong
Again simplest approach: Take a few calming breaths, and vividly imagine yourself doing something vigorous, and all “full of vim and vigour”… Tennis game, an easy jog around the block, shredding a half-pipe, or whatever.
Rainsong
Burning off intoxication involves something fairly similar but also taking in lots of extra air (and without hyperventilating, though). We don’t have time to go into detail on that one right now… There are far too many topics to go into any sort of depth for any of them tonight.
Rainsong
Adjusting blood flow – increase it to make blood-draws easier and the flush minor wounds; and lower it to, uh, stop bleeding. Fake a blush, or conceal one. (I’m sure the gentlemen can puzzle out other uses for adjusting their blood flow…) Visualization’s also useful for this. To increase bloodflow to the hand, for example, imagine the hand getting warmer. It takes practice – and it’s basically biofeedback – but it’s endlessly useful For some reason, biofeedback is easier to do to someone else than with oneself.
Rainsong
Precognition – avoiding snarls in rush-hour traffic (or finding the least snarled…) Any approach to precog that you like. Pendulum dowsing is good for this one, too
Rainsong
Altering Senses – In addition to dulling or eliminating pain, similar approaches can be used to change your perceptions of sensory input, either to shut them off entirely, “dial them down” or exchange one perception for another.
Rainsong
For example, I hate the feel of baked pasta, so when Gran had made a baked macaroni-and-cheese for a family get-together (many, many years ago), I blocked the sensation entirely and pretended to enjoy the food. Granted, that meant I had to stop Mum from asking what Gran did differently in preparing it, knowing that I hated baked pasta. sigh
Rainsong
Empathic/telepathic projection: To flip someone off. Send as strong an impression as you can of either your salute of choice or a similar gesture. The easiest way to practice this is to make the gesture a few times and observe what the motion feels like. Then stop the motion before your hand actually moves… Start the signal and then countermand it. Repeat that a few times. It’s that sensation that you send.
Hobbetian
how to make someone have an orgasm at a distant haha
Rainsong
Construct yoyos and the like are great for passing time at the motor-vehicle registry.
Rare peypey
could you go over altering senses please?
Rainsong
Yes, that works, too. Also long-distance hugs.
Rare peypey
i’ve never heard of a technique for that
Rainsong
There are several. The simplest is based on visualisation again.
Lutasi
if you’re having a bad day you can make yourself a silly hat
Zephyr Cloudrunner
all hugs are good imo
Hobbetian
even Kevin Spacey hugs
Scelana
Cuddles, snuggles, and head pets are nice too
Zephyr Cloudrunner

Rainsong
(Self-hypnosis is the most direct, but not the easiest…)
Rainsong
Take some nice deep breaths, and calm your mind. Imagine a series of switches with little LED lights for each one. The light’s on to indicate something’s active, and the light’s off to indicate that something isn’t. Imagine that each switch is for a sense, or part of a sense (taste overall, or just sweet tastes, or whatever). And turn off the switch for the one you want to block.
Rainsong
To change the sense, rather than block it, use some imaginary gator-clips and re-arrange the circuits.
Rainsong
It’s not the most elegant approach, but it’s one of the easier ones to learn relatively quickly.
Rainsong
Like most biofeedback-like activities, it takes practice. Don’t be surprised or alarmed if it doesn’t work the first few times.
Rainsong
Perhaps that might be a suitable subject for a full seminar… or two…
Rainsong
Psychokinesis – you’d think the huge array of uses would be obvious, but no, apparently not…. Re-charging batteries; pulling stuff from behind the cabinet without moving furniture (if you don’t see the utility of this, you don’t have cats or small children…); catching falling items (see above); stopping doors from slamming; placing force-bubbles/PK-shields around your car to prevent smashes, dings, and other mishaps…
Rainsong
I imagine that the less honest and/or legal options are also obvious: precog for cheating at cards and gambling, pk to mess with alarms and to cheat at pool and darts, illusions/constructs to spoof security cameras, RV for industrial espionage…
Rainsong
And you’re all aware of military/intelligence uses: RV on its face, dowsing for booby-traps and hiding places, illusions to disguise who you are, hedge shields to disguise that you’re there at all, remote presence and telepathy for mucking with an opponent…
Rare peypey
The only time I ever got a force bubble to work, I used it to replace a broken part of a cog in a clock, fixing it (at least until it ran out of energy…)
Rare peypey
Also, illusions? I’ve heard of telepathic suggestion techniques, but ones that would show up on a camera?
Rainsong
It’s possible to spoof a camera directly. That is, to muck with the workings of a digital camera. And to cause impressions to be recorded on conventional film. I don’t know many people who are good at it. (But I do know a few, so I know it’s possible.) And some folks have made dense enough flared constructs to show up in camera footage, without mucking with the recording itself.
Rainsong
So, yes.
Rainsong
Well done with the force-bubble usage, by the way. 😀
Rare peypey
thanks <3
Rainsong
Any other questions or commentary regarding today’s topic?
Rare peypey
I’ve had success increasing the signal to my phone in low/no signal areas. The technique is to visualise more radio waves being funneled towards your phone
Rare peypey
Can usually get about 2 bars with that
Rainsong
Ahh, good stuff.
Scelana
What category does interfering, boosting, or other ways of affecting various radio frequencies, cellphone signal, wifi, etc fall under?
Rainsong
That reminds me. Re-charging batteries (run psi-stuff into them) and operating electrical equipment by running psi-stuff into the cord.
Rainsong
Scelana: Technically, it’s psychokinesis.
Scelana
Ahh
Rare peypey
I interfered with a magnetically levitated metal ring at a physics open evening once, and it felt like psychokinesis when it dropped even though I wasn’t pushing the ring down
Rare peypey
just reducing the force applied
Rainsong
nods You can use pk to interfere with magnetic attraction.
Scelana
I’m guessing straight up powering a plug-in radio counts as pk too then?
Rainsong
That’s right.
Rainsong
Rare peypey: using an interference pattern also works, and for some people is easier than reducing the attraction directly
Scelana
Does having tendencies in one area of pk increase the likelyhood of being more easily able to work on practicing other areas of pk?
Rainsong
Insufficient data. We simply don’t know.
Scelana
Ah i see
Rare peypey
everything is linked I find, they aren’t distinct skills
Rare peypey
others may have noticed different things though
Scelana
I’m quite tempted to get a psi wheel eventually setup hehe
Rare peypey
Good luck! don’t fall for the 2.5in by 2.5 in piece of paper meme by the way, just fold a post it note
Rainsong
With kittens in the house, I strongly suggest keeping it inside a closed glass jar.
Rare peypey
no need to get the arts and crafts out
Scelana
I find it tons easier to interfere with various wireless signals than to boost or shift frequencies
Lutasi
Never had much luck with pk in general
Scelana
If I’m in extreme duress I’ll naturally knock out/block/heavily interfere with cellphone and other signals within a radius of me
Scelana
Especially had tons of that happen when we still lived in Adelanto with the psychopath and sociopath and their sociopath kids
Rare peypey
@Lutasi the technique that first worked for me was one that rain described in an old seminar log. visualise psi moving between the front and back of your palm like waves crashing against the beach (with your hand relatively close to the psi wheel)
Lutasi
hmm
Rare peypey
is the lecture done then? if so does anyone want to play some shapes and colours?
Rainsong
Yes, I believe that concludes this evening, seminar. Thanks for participating, everyone.
Rainsong
Shapes and Colours is scheduled for the Practice Annex room, so as to keep the records in here separate.
Rare peypey
Thank you for doing this 😀 it’s interesting being present for one rather than reading old logs
Rainsong
Thanks for participating. 😀
