Introduction to Time Distortion

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: July 7, 2018 (Saturday)

Seminar: Topic: Introduction to Time Distortion (by request of Kate) -Saturday, 7 July 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time — text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord) — Instructor: Rainsong — Search LECTURE31

Rainsong: Good afternoon/evening/whatever, ladies and gentlemen and lurkers-in-the-weeds

Rainsong: Welcome to another psionics seminar here at the social club.

Rainsong: Strictly speaking, our topic for today is probably not psionic per se.

Rainsong: It is, however, a handy skill to have on hand, and its building blocks are all things that psionicists use routinely.

Rainsong: That topic is “time distortion.”

Rainsong: Time distortion alters a person’s perception of time… as opposed to time dilation that affects the time-space continuum itself. We won’t be dealing with the latter in this latter.

Rainsong: Probably.

Introduction to the Scientific Method

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: June 30, 2018 (Saturday)

Seminar: Topic: Introduction to the Scientific Method (and the distinction between Science as an Institution and Science as a Method of Inquiry… along with commentary on PSC’s stance on it, for reasons muttering about cockamamy theories and general lack of scientific education… waves cane from rocking chair) -Saturday, 30 June 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time — text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord) — Instructor: Rainsong — Search LECTURE30

Rainsong: 😀

Rainsong: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. It looks like we’re at the bottom of the hour.

Rainsong: Welcome to another seminar here at the social club.

Rainsong: Our topic for the evening is “An Introduction to the Scientific Method”

Rainsong: We’ll also be discussing the difference between “Science as an Institution” and “Science as a Method of Inquiry”, as the two are too often conflated.

Remote Viewing Class 12: Stage 5

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: June 16, 2018 (Saturday)

Seminar: Topic: Remote Viewing Class 14, “Stage 5” -Saturday, 16 June 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time — text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord) — Instructor: Rainsong — Search LECTURE28

Rainsong: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Rainsong: Welcome to another psionics seminar here at the social club.

Kate Embers: Hello ^^

Jael: Hello there

Rainsong: Hello, hello 😀

Rainsong: Our topic for the evening is Remote Viewing: stage 5 of the CRV protocols.

Rainsong: Allowing for the fact that this is obviously not the beginner level of the course, are there any questions or comments before we dive in?

Rainsong: Not seeing any typing in progress, I’ll take that as a “no”

Kate Embers: Not yet

Rainsong: Fair enough.

Rainsong: CRV is one of the military sets of protocols. And there are several closely-related derivatives being taught on the civilian market.

Rainsong: And when I say “closely related”, I mean the textbook appears to be a copy of the CRV manual attributed to the late Ingo Swann and compiled by Dr. Paul Smith, but with a different cover substituted. It’s that close.

Rainsong: The protocol has several stages.

Rainsong: In stage 1, you make contact and get a very basic concept or gestalt, such as “event” or “water”

Rainsong: In stage 2, you record the very basic sensory stuff, such as “salty” or “orange” or “smooth”

Rainsong: In stage 3, you get into dimensions such as height and width

Rainsong: In stage 4, you start getting the more abstract and complex bits, officially “general qualitative analytical aspects” (yep, this is a military protocol….), such as “Religious” or “Soviet”

Rainsong: Today, we’re looking at stage 5, as mentioned…

Rainsong: For what it’s worth, this part is called “interrogation of the signal line”… but that isn’t useful information yet

Fitting Practice into a Busy Schedule & Mixing Psionics into Normal Activities

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: June 2, 2018 (Saturday)

Seminar: Topic: Fitting practice into a busy schedule / Mixing psionics into normal activities (suggested by Rose, with further suggestion by SilkySky) with an emphasis on grounding, centering, and meditation – Saturday, 2 June 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time — text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord) — Instructor: Rainsong — Search LECTURE26

Rainsong – Note about seminars: Hi, all. I’ll be referring back to this from time to time… In lecture seminars (i.e., almost everything other than Journal Club), we’ll be going back to the older practice of holding questions until I pause in the lecture, and ask for “Questions and commentary”. I don’t want to stop folks from asking questions, but at the same time, it’s easier for everyone to follow what’s going on if there’s some kind of structure to the class. In some cases, a question will be such that it would be better handled after class or at some other mutually-agreed-upon time.

Rainsong – Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Rainsong – We’re at the bottom of the hour.

Rainsong – Welcome to another psionics seminar here at the social club.

Rainsong – As mentioned above, our topic for the evening is how to fit practice into a busy schedule and mix psionics into normal activities.

Rainsong – Are there any questions or comments, before we dive in?

Silkysky – Good for now.

Nickodemo – Hola

Rainsong – Alrighty then. Obviously, there’s going to be a lot of variations in this topic, because “busy” has different meanings for different people, and different people have widely varying skills within psionics. Both of those factors will have an impact on exactly what you do.

Journal Club – Structural plasticity of the social brain

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: May 26, 2018 (Saturday)

Seminar: Topic: Journal Club: “Structural plasticity of the social brain: Differential change after socio-affective and cognitive mental training” Sofie L. Valk , Boris C. Bernhardt, Fynn-Mathis Trautwein, et alia. Science Advances 04 Oct 2017:Vol. 3, no. 10, e1700489 DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.1700489 http://advances.sciencemag.org/content/3/10/e1700489.full and the Forbes piece about it https://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2017/10/05/different-types-of-meditation-change-the-brain-in-different-ways-study-finds/#641ac25c1f1e – Saturday, 26 May 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time — text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord)

Rainsong – We’re at the bottom of the hour.
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
Welcome to another Journal Club seminar here at the social club.

boop – yay

Rainsong – Our journal article for the evening is “Structural plasticity of the social brain: Differential change after socio-affective and cognitive mental training”

It was written by Sofie L. Valk , Boris C. Bernhardt, Fynn-Mathis Trautwein, et alia. and published in the journal “Science Advances” in October of last year.

“et alia” means “and others”…. It just means that the full list of co-authors didn’t fit in the citation style. They are all listed at the beginning of the article itself, though

For those of you not fundamentally opposed to reading articles in “Forbes”, the pop-culture nutshell version there is somewhat less difficult to read and understand.

Are there any questions or comments at this stage? This is a journal club, rather than a regular seminar, so it will be a discussion, instead of a lecture.

Hmmm No comments?

With this one, it mostly just seems pretty cool that there’s physical evidence of the differences in the effects of various kinds of meditation and related mental training.

Some kinds of meditation would be a bit tricky to study that way, of course.

Well… Looks like this one was a bust.

Consulting the Sub-Conscious (aka File Clerk Dude)

Instructor: Rainsong
Date: May 19, 2018 (Saturday)

Topic – @everyone This week’s seminar starts in about an hour. Topic: consulting “File Clerk Dude”/subconscious (suggested by ShadowRain)- Saturday, 19(?) May 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time — text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord) — Instructor: Rainsong — Search LECTURE24

Rainsong – Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome to another psionics seminar here at the social club.
As usual, we’ll be discussing real-world psionics, as opposed to video games. If that concept is distressing to you, you might want to find a different chatroom before you get too weirded out.

Rainsong – Our topic for the evening is “consulting your subconscious” aka the “File Clerk Dude”

Scelana – Seems I made it in time

Rainsong – The concept of the so-called subconscious mind as a file clerk comes from a book I lent to a buddy of mine, about thirty years ago, and didn’t get it back. My memory fails me as to author and title, so I’ve been unable to credit the idea.

Rainsong – Hi, Scelana

Rainsong – So, are there any questions or comments before we dive into this?

Will Worker – Not ATM.

Scelana – I have none atm

Rainsong – The “subconscious” refers to the part of the mind that (among other functions) keeps the basic processes of the body going: digestion, respiration, causing the fingernails to grow. All that stuff “you” don’t typically pay much attention to.

Rainsong – It also takes most of what you “notice” and “think about”… and files it away in the memory.

Rainsong – Hence the file-clerk analogy.

Date: May 5, 2018 (Saturday)

Topic: Centering (“a more in depth lecture about centering and what happens in day-to-day use when doing psionics, that decenters and/or destabilizes you” – requested by Rose) – Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 6:30pm/1830hr New York Time – text format in the PSC #lecture room (Discord) – Instructor: Rainsong – Search LECTURE22
